4.1 Since dusts from organic material may cause both explosions as well as irritation in the bronchial regions, the information of dust has to be avoided during filling operation and/or processing. Adequate ventilation must be provided, where ever necessary.
4.2 Generally the precautionary rules for the handling of chemicals, starches, and flours to be observed.
5) Protective measure, storage and handling
5.1 Technical protective measures: Store in a cool and dry place and not together with strongly oxidizing materials.
5.2 Personal protective: Respiration protection i.e. respirators, eye protection goggles
Measure equipment: Hand protection and others. If strong dust formation is to be expected handling of large quantities.
5.3 Occupational hygiene: Observe usual conditions for handling chemicals, starches, flours etc., (see point 4.1).
5.4 Fire/ explosion protection: Deposits of dust are to be avoided and regularly removed.
5.5 Disposal: Incinerate or disposal as chemical was according to local regulations.
6) Measure to be taken in case of accidents and fire
6.1 After spill / leak / gas escape: In connection with water: slipper. Dry powder: sweep or scoop up or clean by vacuum.
6.2 Extinguishing materials: Powder or Foam extinguishers, CO2, Halon
